Melasma is a hormone induced pigmentation. It is more common than you might think.
Trigger factors include: – contraceptive pill, pregnancy, stress, and perfume.
The areas on the face affected are: – forehead, cheeks, upper lip, nose, neck and rarely forearms.
90% of people who develop Melasma are woman.

There are 3 different types of Melasma: –
Epidermal (superficial)
Dermal (deeper)
Mix of both dermal and epidermal

To identify which type you have, you will need a specialist to examine your skin under a UV scanner to determine which melasma you have.
Epidermal Melasma is the easiest of the 3 to treat.

Although there is no cure for Melasma there are a variety of treatments that will help manage the condition.
These include skin lightening agents, tyrosinase inhibitors chemical peels and dermaEds together with cosmeceuticals and SPF.
