Botulinum toxin type A is the world’s most popular non-surgical anti-ageing treatment, due to the results that can be achieved with skilled medical professionals.
It works by temporarily blocking fine muscle activity, thus relaxing the skin so that lines appear softer and smoother.
They are injected directly into the muscle that causes facial contractions, for example the frown lines between the brows, and work by stopping facial nerves from sending the message to the muscle to contract each time you make a facial expression. This allows the muscle to relax and as a result, the overlying skin releases its wrinkle.
Botulinum toxin type A has been safely used for multiple indications for well over 20 years in medicine.
Botulinum toxin type A is a prescription only medicine which must be prescribed by a suitably qualified professional after face to face consultation. Botulinum Toxin should be administered by a healthcare professional with specialist training. Results tend to last 3-4 months Movement will begin recovering from 8 weeks.
Anti-wrinkle injections are used to smooth lines and wrinkles for a younger, more rejuvenated look. They are most often used to treat;
- Frown lines
- Worry lines
- Crows feet
- Platysmal bands
- Gummy smile

Besides cosmetic reasons, anti-wrinkle injections can also be used to treat non-cosmetic reasons, most
notably hyperhidrosis in the armpits, also known as excessive sweating which can be caused by overactive
sweat glands, anxiety and more.
The procedure itself takes only around 10 minutes. The effects are rapid, need little or no recovery time. Subtle improvements can be seen within days and optimum results are usually achieved around 14 days after treatment, and last for 3-4 months.
Anti-wrinkle injections have been used for several decades for both cosmetic and reconstructive purposes. There may be very small areas of bruising or swelling and occasionally a slight, short-lived headache but generally there is very minimal “downtime” associated with treatment. and any side effects, such as minor redness and swelling, resolve after 24 hours.
